Service of an amplifier with a reported intermittent low-output problem.

Customer report

The customer reported lower-than-expected output.

What I observed

At first the output seemed normal. Pulling on the input jack and moving the plug reproduced the problem. That pointed toward the input contacts, but I could not isolate one contact as a definitive cause.

Service performed

I cleaned the input jacks, pots, and tube sockets and re-tensioned the ground contacts on the input jacks.

Final check

I could not reproduce the symptom afterward. As far as I could tell, the amp was back to normal, and the customer did not report the problem again.
